SAM Gilbert will join comedian Magda Szubanski and state MPs Martin Foley Clem Newton-Brown on Friday night to campaign for marriage equality.

In one of the biggest fundraisers ever held for the marriage equality, the Australian Marriage Equality lobby group will be hosting the Tipping Point function on September 19.

Gilbert said he supported the campaign because he believed in equality.

“I was invited to speak at the event and it was something that I didn’t really need to think twice about,” Gilbert told SAINTS.com.au

“Love is love, and it shouldn’t matter if you’re a man or a woman, you should be able to marry the love of your life whoever that may be.”

Gilbert said it was important members of the community stood up for what they believed in and was grateful to be in a position to help the Australian Marriage Equality reform.

“There are only 25 more Federal MPs needed to make marriage equality a reality, this is a critical time to support Australian Marriage Equality’s efforts to win those final votes,” he said.

“As a club and as a code we are inclusive of everyone and there’s no place for discrimination so absolutely I support marriage equality for all people.”

Gilbert will speak at the fundraiser on Friday night at Melbourne Town Hall.
